Chairman’s Report & Correspondence
Audrey Sinclair – Berwyn welcomed Audrey
to her first Community Council meeting in Inverinate.
Scottish Water – Joanna Peebles (new contact)
was to be invited to attend a future meeting to discuss ongoing
issues.
Mast – estate have heard nothing from
assessor as yet.
Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association – Berwyn
read extracts from their Annual Report, which gave some interesting
statistics on developments re. housing provision in the area.
Graham House – Berwyn reported that he
was still trying to secure a copy of the report that had decided
that Graham House should be closed. There was no further update.
Matters Arising
Police – Berwyn had been in touch with
the chief constable and had been advised that a new sergeant
had been appointed for Kyle. It was suggested that an invitation
be sent to attend a future meeting.
Ward Forums – Audrey & Biz explained
the arrangement re. ward forum meetings, which bring together
representatives from all the community councils across the ward..
Unfortunately, the Community Council had apparently not been
informed of the last meeting in Strathpeffer but the next was
to be on 26th Nov in Poolewe. A more local one would be in the
Lochalsh area in January. The Ward Manager at Highland Council
is Robbie Bain and an invite would also be sent to him to attaned
a future meeting.
Future meetings – it was agreed that the
dates of the next three meetings be provisionally set for Thurs.
13th December, Thurs. 24th January and Thurs 28th February.
AOB
Core Paths Plan – this had been considered
by Willie Fraser and was discussed. There were no points that
really impacted on the community council area.
Condition of roadsides – Ian Ross mentioned
the poor condition of the verges and the danger of pedestrians
falling or tripping up. Biz had spoken to a Transerve representative
on this point and they acknowledged responsibility for their
upkeep. It would be pursued further.
Carparking in Kyle – the impact of the
new surgery and the introduction of parking fees in the car park
(as of April) was discussed and Audrey mentioned a forthcoming
public meeting on this, to be held at Kyle the following week.
