UNAPPROVED MINUTES

Meeting held in Inverinate Community centre
Thursday 16th April 2009 at 8.00pm

Present: Mr Berwyn Edwards (Chairman)
Mr Donald MacIntosh Ms Fiona MacDonald
Mrs Marina MacRae Mr John Falconer
  Councillor Audrey Sinclair

Apologies: Mrs Christine Fraser, Councillor Biz Campbell, Mr Ian Ross

Minutes of previous meeting – approved.

Chairman’s Report & Correspondence
Royal Navy Presentation (Portree) – Berwyn disappointed that this was cancelled.
SEPA – letter had been received on improving your water. Audrey advised Berwyn should check the SEPA website for clarification.
Forest District changes – letter received giving changes in some district office locations.

Matters Arising
Joint Community Council meeting – had been held in Kinlochewe. Audrey had attended and said she would forward minutes from Robbie Bain.
Ratagan swimming pool – letter received asking for help in purchasing solar matting to heat the pool. Everyone was encouraged to see that the pool committee had done quite a bit of fundraising on their own, but they needed help. Berwyn proposed a cheque for £500 be sent, seconded by Donald.
TV mast – no developments.
Transerv – Marina had made contact with Robert Thomson, Area Manager for Transerv, and he was keen to attend the next meeting to discuss all the ongoing matters re. roads and pavements etc.

AOCB
Water quality – Donald to check again with Letterfearn folks re. the water quality issue.
Skip requests – two further community skips were requested, one for Inverinate and one for Ratagan.
Police matters – following his attendance at a Police Liaison meeting in the Midlands, Berwyn suggested that contact be made with Sgt Hunter in Kyle to ask for an update on local policing issues.
Erosion at Glebe Road – John mentioned the erosion at the waterside on Glebe Road, where the sea water was eating under the kerb and tarmac. Audrey provided a contact at Highland Council, who would be contacted by Marina.
Parking in Kyle – mention was made of the regular instances of illegal parking, mis-use of blue badges, double parking etc, in Kyle. The real problem was the lack of parking spaces and the concern is how bad it will get when the summer tourists arrive. Marina to contact Inspector MacLean to find out whether there are plans for a traffic warden to be in Kyle for at least a couple of days a week over the summer.

Dates of next meetings
The next meeting will be on Thurs 14th May 2009 and it will be attended by Robert Thomson of Transerv.
