| Apologies: |
Councillor Audrey Sinclair, Mrs Jayne Croy |
Minutes of previous meeting – Ian
Ross pointed out that the footpath holes he had mentioned during
the last meeting were in fact
drainage holes not potholes. This was noted and the minutes were
then approved.
Chairman’s Report & Correspondence
Shieldaig Community Council – a joint meeting
of community councils was to be organised by Shieldaig CC. Given
the proposed
agenda, and the existence of Ward Forums, those present questioned
the value of the meeting. Berwyn agreed to respond to the invitation
and explain why no-one from Loch Duich would be attending.
National Spring Clean Week 2009 – Berwyn referred
to leaflets that had been received and agreed to hand them into the
school.
Highland Council Heavy Good Uplift – it was mentioned that,
as of 1st April, charges would be made for the council uplifting
heavy goods. £15 for up to 3 items and £30 for 3-6 items.
This was a disappointment and everyone felt that it would lead to
more fly-tipping in the area.
Skye and Lochalsh Housing Association – latest
newsletter was discussed.
Matters Arising
Water quality – Donald raised concerns about
the quality of the drinking water around Loch Duich. There had
been complaints re.
taste, smell, cloudiness of water etc. It was agreed that we would
monitor the water situation for a while before taking things further.
Carr Brae Mast – recent investigations and
correspondence has confirmed that the future of the Carr Brae mast
is very much in doubt
and consideration is being given to closing it down. This would mean
that there would no longer be any non-satellite TV transmission via
the mast and that satellite TV reception would be the only option
for around Loch Duich.
Drainage holes on footpath – Ian had given
Marina a diagram of where these holes are and this would be passed
to Transerv for
action.
AOCB
Community Newsletter - a volunteer had come forward who would be
willing to help with the production of a community newsletter.
It was agreed that this idea would be mulled over and views sought
at the next meeting.
Speeding – everyone had noticed the flashing
30mph sign on the way into Kyle, and would be keen to see the same
thing in Inverinate.
Marina to investigate.
Kintail photo project – Fiona mentioned the
photo project from 2000, and that she had copies (all the originals
had been returned
to their owners) of lots of the photos that had been handed in. Ideas
would be welcomed, from the community, of what could be done with
them.
Dates of next meetings
The next meeting will be on Thurs 16th April 2009.
