Minutes of previous meeting were approved.
Chairman’s Report & Correspondence
Scottish Water – Joanna Peebles, had been
in touch to introduce herself as the new Scottish Water contact.
Marina agreed to contact her and invite her to a future meeting.
Scottish Water had also been in touch to say that the Annual
Consultative meeting had been arranged for 25 Sept and Fiona
agreed to go, if she could.
Mast – Assessment had been done but the
assessor had not yet been back in touch with the estate. Berwyn
would follow this up.
Quality Awards 2007 – Marina had received
paperwork on this and folks were advised to let her know of any
nominations by 5th Oct.
Lochalsh & Skye Housing Association – Berwyn
read extracts from their Annual Report, which gave some interesting
statistics on developments re. housing provision in the area.
Matters Arising
Graham House – Berwyn reported that he
was trying to secure a copy of the report that had decided that
Graham House should be closed. He had contacted Highland Council
and the Scottish Executive and would be pursuing it further.
(He did have a copy of the Care Commission reports of Feb 2006,
which had given a glowing report). There was no further update.
David Thompson, MSP – Berwyn read excerpts
from the new MSP’s maiden speech to the Parliament, which
had given specific mention to Graham House. He was pleased to
see that Mr Thompson appeared to be strongly supportive of the
Graham House campaign to see it renovated rather than replaced
by a different type of provision altogether.
AOB
www.aroundtheloch.co.uk – Donald reported
that there had been 800 hits to the website in August and 2,600
since the website had started.
Hall Committee – everyone was reminded
that the deadline for fresh members to be recruited for the hall
Committee was November.
Skip – was on order for Forestry houses,
Inverinate.
Delivery & Sorting of mail – Roddy
pointed out that there had recently been several problems with
the delivery of mail in the area – often to the wrong addresses
altogether. Marina agreed to send a letter to the Kyle post office
to obtain assurances that this had been resolved.
